First day of Year 2.1 // Magpie

At Mensa II after class where we discovered pretty good Ice cream floats! It actually wasn't that good when the ice cream was all melted and eaten away but it was good while it lasted. Next time i'll ask for double scoop of ice cream and less sprite.

Year 2.1.... or year 1.3 as i'd prefer to call it, because i still feel like a freshie and i think i am moderately unprepared for Year 2 BECAUSE LOOK AT ME HAHAHAHA I don't feel mature enough at all........

But i think i'm going to grow and mature so much in the next 4 weeks.

That's because for the first four weeks, my only class is Fash Retail Management. According to the brief... We're going to run our shops in T MINUS 3 WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG WHAT?!!!!!! I just came to school today all chilled and BOOM I GOTTA COME UP WITH A STORE BRAND CONCEPT AND PROPOSE IT TOMORROW! I've got my idea and style and concept pat down already, thank god for an imaginative brain during a rigid lecture. I'm not sure how far i can go with this idea, and i hope i'll be able to develop it more with the help of my future teammates, but for now it's something like this:


I call it Magpie Syndrome.

Focus on holographic fabric, shiny metallics, spectrums of light colours against black.

All sorts of holographic things, like skater skirts and big tshirts made of the same holo fabric, really shiny/polished accessories. Trendy clothes that people nowadays would wear. Simple clothes, because the focus is on the fabric.

Photoshoot would have a black background and when the model wears the samples it would reflect more light than her skin so the focus would be on the clothes and we'd have 'motion' shots to look like we're dancing and having a good time at a disco of sorts and she can just wear shades and rock cool she doesn't even have to force a doe eyed smile and we'd play headbangin' music while having the shoot and it'll all be good fun because that's so disco

Disco wasn't part of what i wanted at first but it does seem a little disco so i just added that in.

I would be so excited if the store my group eventually comes up with is really called Magpie (or Magpie Syndrome) and we'd have cool dance-motion posters up FUCK I'M JUST SO READY FOR THAT.

This means i have to present my idea really influentially tmr! GOODLUCK TO ME


Tomorrow we will be split into four groups and we're going to be grouped according to what kind of store we want to. I really hope i get teammates that I can click with yes yes pls thankiu.

During the briefing and lecture Irene kept talking about good branding, and the brand that kept coming to mind was O'mighty/OMWeekend. They're doing everything correct EXCEPT for the design of their online shopping platform, that just needs a makeover. They're store concept is role model. I'm saying that from a consumer's pov LOL.

Anyway, im off to create my magpie syndrome collage for tomorrow's class. Ta-ta
